国営昭和記念公園は、昭和天皇在位50年記念事業として、昭和58(1983)年に立川飛行場跡地に建設された。約1500本の桜、 4万本のひまわり、 550万株のコスモスなど、季節ごとに花々が咲き誇る。
The National Showa Memorial Park was built in 1983 on the site of the Tachikawa Airfield as part of the 50th anniversary celebration of Emperor Showa's reign. The park boasts approximately 1,500 cherry trees, 40,000 sunflowers, and 5.5 million cosmos flowers, among other seasonal flowers that bloom in abundance throughout the year.
