明治神宮は、明治天皇・昭憲皇太后を祭神とし、 大正9(1920)年に創建された。 東京ドーム15個分の豊かな杜は、人工の杜。令和2 (2020)年に鎮座百年祭を迎え、 三間社流造、 総檜素木造の本殿記念事業の一環として建築家、 隈研吾の設計で明治神宮ミュージアムを開館。 明治天皇が乗車された六頭曵儀装車や愛用された重厚な机など、 ゆかりの品々が展示されている。
Meiji Jingu Shrine was founded in 1920 to enshrine Emperor Meiji and Empress Shoken. The lush forest, equivalent to 15 Tokyo Domes, is an artificial forest. In 2020, the shrine celebrated its centennial, and as part of the construction project for the main shrine, which is a three-bay style shrine with an all-Hinoki (Japanese cypress) wooden structure, the Meiji Jingu Museum was opened, designed by architect Kengo Kuma. The museum exhibits items related to the emperor, including the six-horse carriage that was used to transport Emperor Meiji and the sturdy desk that he used.
