伊豆諸島は、東京都心の南、富士火山帯に属する火山島群。 伊豆半島の南東方向、 伊豆大島から孀婦岩までの間にある100余の島で構成される。島々は火山またはカルデラ式海底火山の外輪山が海面より高くなったもの。今も火山活動が続いている島もある。 すべての島が温暖多雨の海洋性気候。東京から最も近い伊豆大島には、竹芝旅客ターミナルから高速ジェット船の利用で最短1時間45分。 島のシンボルである三原山は壮大。 ほかにも、7つの温泉がある八丈島、火山が造り出したダイナミックな景観が広がる三宅島など、魅力的な島々が揃っている。
The Izu Islands are a group of volcanic islands belonging to the Fuji volcanic belt, located south of the Tokyo metropolitan area. They are composed of over 100 islands between Izu Oshima and Syoufu Rock in the southeast of the Izu Peninsula. The islands are formed from outer volcanic rims or caldera-style underwater volcanoes that rise higher than sea level. Some of the islands are still volcanically active. All the islands have a warm and rainy oceanic climate. The nearest island to Tokyo, Izu Oshima, can be reached in as little as 1 hour and 45 minutes by using a high-speed jet boat from the Takeshiba Passenger Terminal. The symbol of the islands, Mt. Mihara, is magnificent. In addition, the islands offer a variety of attractions, such as Hachijo Island with its seven hot springs, and Miyake Island with its dynamic landscapes created by volcanoes.
