Among its many attractions, the Jigokudani Monkey Park in Shimotakai District, Yamanouchi, Nagano Prefecture, is internationally famous for offering a unique sight of wild Japanese macaques (snow monkeys) bathing in hot springs. This sight is especially well-known during the winter season, when the monkeys bathe in the onsen (hot springs), earning it the global moniker "Snow Monkey Mountain."

Jigokudani Monkey Park is one of the few places where you can observe Japanese macaques living in a condition close to their natural environment.
