旭川市旭山動物園は、自然に近い環境で、生き物の魅力を最大限引き出す工夫を凝らした行動展示が人気。プールで泳ぐカバやホッキョクグマをアクリル板を隔てて間近に見られるほか、 空を飛ぶ ようなペンギンなど、 動物本来の生態を観察できる。 同じ地域に暮らす種類の違う動物を、 同じ飼育場で展示する共生展示も。 冬季の積雪期はペンギンの散歩が見られる。
Asahiyama Zoo in Asahikawa City is popular for its interactive exhibits that showcase the appeal of animals in a natural environment. Visitors can observe animals like swimming hippos and polar bears up close through acrylic panels, and also witness the natural behavior of animals such as penguins that appear to be flying in the air. The zoo also features a symbiotic exhibit that displays animals of different species living together in the same enclosure. During the snowy winter season, visitors can see penguins taking a stroll.
