Tsūjun Bridge is a stone arch aqueduct bridge constructed in 1854 during the late Edo period. It is approximately 75.6 meters long and 20.2 meters high, and is Japan's largest of its kind. It is surrounded by a gorge on all sides and was built to supply irrigation water to the Hakuho Plateau, which was suffering from a water shortage. Water is released for approximately 15 minutes from a hole in the center of the bridge during water releases, which occur from early April to early May and from late July to November. There is a statue of Hotta Yasunosuke, who built this aqueduct, near the bridge.
