リアス海岸の天然の良港、浦賀。嘉永6 (1853)年にはアメリカのペリー提督が軍艦4隻を率いて来航。 上陸した久里浜にはペリー公園と、 資料を展示するペリー記念館がある。また、浦賀は造船の町としても栄え、100年以上稼働していた浦賀ドックもある。
Uraga is a natural harbor on the ria coast. In 1853, during the sixth year of the Kaei era, Commodore Perry of the United States arrived with four warships and landed in Kurihama. Today, there is a Perry Park and a Perry Memorial Hall that displays related materials there. Uraga also flourished as a shipbuilding town, and there is Uraga Dock, which has been in operation for over 100 years.
