猿島は、横須賀港の沖合に浮かぶ周囲1.6kmほどの島。 周囲のほとんどは岩場だが、 船が着く桟橋のすぐ近くに砂浜があり、バーベキューも楽しめる。 島の内部には巨大なレンガの遺構やトンネル、かつての弾薬庫 幕末以降、首都防衛の要衝だった猿島などが緑に埋もれながら続き、 まるで秘密基地のよう。
Sarushima is an island about 1.6 kilometers in circumference that floats off the coast of Yokosuka Port. Most of the island is rocky, but there is a sandy beach right next to the pier where boats arrive, and you can enjoy barbecues there. Inside the island, there are huge brick ruins, tunnels, and former ammunition depots, and since the end of the Edo period, Sarushima has been a key point for defending the capital, now hidden among the greenery, it feels like a secret base.

Round trip ferry fare is 1,500 yen, and there is an additional admission fee of 500 yen.
