小石原焼は素朴なデザインと風合いが魅力の日常使いの器。 約350年前から陶芸の郷として知られ、 現在は約40軒の窯元があり、 違った作風を楽しめる。 かんなの刃先を使って規則的に削り目を入れる飛び鉋、 ろくろを回しながら白土に刷毛で模様を入れるはめ刷毛目の技法などが小石原焼の特徴

The area has been known as a pottery town for about 350 years, with approximately 40 kilns where you can enjoy different styles of pottery. The unique features of Koishiwara-yaki include the use of a "tobidashi," a tool that uses the edge of a plane to create a regular pattern, and the "hamezuri-men," a technique in which a potter applies a brush to the white clay while turning it on a potter's wheel.
