板東十郎兵衛の屋敷跡であり、 『傾城阿波の鳴門』 ゆかりの場所。 国指定重要無形民俗文化財 「阿波人形浄瑠璃」 を毎日公演している。 特に土・日曜・祝日は太夫 や三味線奏者も出演し、臨場感抜群 (平日はCD音源での演奏)。 また、 木偶や床本などの資料も豊富に展示。 母屋の前には江戸時代から残る池泉鑑賞式庭園 「鶴亀の庭」 が残る。
It is the former residence of Itan Tarozaemon, a famous figure in the Awa Ningyo Joruri puppet theater and the setting for the novel "Naruto the Kecchaku". They perform the National Important Intangible Folk Cultural Property "Awa Ningyo Joruri" every day. On weekends and holidays, Tayu (a narrator in Joruri) and Shamisen performers also appear, providing an exciting live experience (on weekdays, the performances are based on a recorded CD). Additionally, there are abundant exhibits of materials such as puppets and shohons (books containing Joruri scripts). In front of the main house, the "Tsurukame no Niwa" (a pond garden with fountains) built during the Edo period remains as an attraction.
